An expert witness is someone who is asked to give an unbiased opinion on a planning or valuation matter to assist a Court or Tribunal/Inquiry to understand the issues. I have been an expert witness over many years appearing at Planning Inquiries, Courts and recently the Crown Court on behalf of the Serious Fraud Office. Sometimes my evidence is used to inform and discuss a settlement of a contentious case without the need to go to Court - retrospective valuations in respect of repossessed properties are a case in point. It is important that the issue is one I am familiar with, so early discussion is advised, as you must secure the services of someone who is genuinely able to express an 'Expert Opinion' on the particulars of the matter. Once the details of the case are explained to me I can quickly confirm whether the case is within my competence or not. If it is not I will try and refer you to someone who is familiar with that issue. If the details are within my experience I will be happy to discuss them with you, do contact me to discuss the issue.
